Last Saturday Lori and I stopped by Sightglass Coffee, a new coffee bar in San Francisco’s SOMA neighborhood. It is currently only open in the form of a kiosk, but they are in the process of building a large bi-level cafe. They also have a coffee roaster and will be roasting their own beans on site.

Over the last few years the coffee situation in San Francisco, especially SOMA, has been improving dramatically. I, for one, welcome our new coffee overlords.

Thanks for posting this! I’m at 8th and Howard and I thought I had no option but Starbucks.

With Bloodhound bar, Terroir wine bar/merchant, Chez Spencer truck, and now Sightglass, 7th/Folsom has become quite the SOMA spot! Who woulda thought.

Don’t forget Red Sky records, a vinyl (!!!) record shop that’s opening a few doors down from Sightglass…

Doesn’t look like much has changed there in the past month:

OMG they’ve got a Slayer espresso machine. That’s pretty cutting edge and exclusive (not to mention expensive).

I live in the wrong area. There is nothing cool like this in Princeton.
