SF Docfest

SF Indie presents the 6th annual San Francisco Documentary Film Festival (SF Docfest), September 28th through October 10th at the Roxie Cinema in San Francisco. Here’s more info on the festival calendar, films and tickets.

he 6th San Francisco Documentary Festival is not a film festival. It’s a journey… to fantastic, fearsome, and fascinating real life.

Visit hot rodders, local market keepers, body modification addicts, Nepalese goddesses, urban renewal, suburban sprawl, and off-the-grid outlaws.

Observe the Cuban gardens that beat Peak Oil, the lottery business in Thailand, death by interrogator in Afghanistan, and a scandalous election in Ukraine. Follow servicemen fleeing to Canada to avoid tours in Iraq, and learn firsthand of the soldier’s life in the jungles of Vietnam.

Get to know Nick Drake, Lisa Gerrard of Dead Can Dance, and the Warhol Factory’s Danny Williams a little better. Experience the joy of success and the agony of defeat on the competitive dachsund-racing circuit and the indie rock scene.

Along the way, late-night horror hosts are celebrated and Reverend Billy preaches from the Church of Stop Shopping.

And believe it or not, this is just the beginning. For a full description of all 60 of SF DocFest’s amazing stories, visit www.sfindie.com
