‘Serial’, The Popular Long-Form True Crime Podcast, Announces a Second Season After Asking Fans For Support

Serial

Serial, the popular long-form true crime podcast, has announced a second season after asking fans for support. Serial was a spinoff of the radio show and podcast This American Life and was largely supported by that show in its first season, but announced on a recent episode that to continue after the first season it would need listener support. Fans of the show can still donate to the show through Chicago Public Media’s site, or by texting the word “Serial” to 25383 to add $10 to their phone bill.

Last week, we asked people who’ve been listening to Serial to chip in if they wanted a second season. This American Life funded the bulk of Season One, but for Serial to continue, it needs to pay for itself. Today, we have good news: between the money you donated and sponsorship, we’ll be able to make a second season. We don’t know yet what the story will be or exactly when we’ll be airing Season Two, but we’ll be working on it as soon as this season ends.
