Secret, An App That Allows You to Anonymously Share Your Inner Thoughts

Secret App

Secret, from co-founders David Byttow and Chrys Bader, is an app that allows users to share text attached to images in an anonymous fashion. This is accomplished by only allowing users to post these “secrets” after five or more of their iOS Contacts are also using Secret. Connections are added by matching email addresses and/or phone numbers to those using Secret after the app is given access to a user’s Contacts.

This means that a given user’s Contacts will be the only ones to see this content, but when they “love” the post, it is then shared with their Contacts using Secret, and so on. The full FAQ for the app is available here, and there’s also an entire page devoted to their stance on user privacy.

Your secrets are delivered anonymously to the people in your Contacts who are on Secret. They can view, love and comment on your post. When friends love your secret, it will be shared to their friends. If they love the post, it can reach even further.

When your secret travels beyond two degrees, it will be marked with your general location, like “California”. People beyond two degrees will be able to love your post or comments, but won’t be able to add comments to the conversation.

Secret is currently available on iOS in the United States only.
