Postal Service to Discontinue Saturday Mail Service

The United States Postal Service has announced that it will discontinue its Saturday delivery service starting during the week of August 5, 2013 (pdf factsheet). They expect to “generate cost savings of approximately $2 billion annually” once the plan is implemented. Post offices will continue to be open on Saturdays.
