@ Jeremy Brooks, so funny you mention that, one of my best friends, his mom grew up in Preston, so they have gone to visit a couple times, well about 3 years ago him and his sisters went around to every location and took some photos. His mom knew the guy with the shotgun and the woman that worked in the school office (actually I think was related to her). Anyway, he said there is a street named after the movie and the exact same things that you said. Very interesting stuff!

My wife thinks this movie is funny, so one time when we visited my family (who now live in Utah) we stopped in Preston to see the ND stuff. The chamber of commerce was pretty much the Napoleon Dynamite Fan Club. They had maps, t-shirts, stickers, and posters. Apparently it is the most exciting thing to ever happen in Preston.
One of the shopkeepers there told us "We just love that movie! It's like watching home videos!"
Personally I am not a fan of this movie. I grew up in an even smaller town about 90 miles from Preston. Once you live in a place like that, it's just not funny.
