In February 2008 Raymond shot some beautiful and haunting photos of the shell the legendary New York rock club CBGB & OMFUG as it was in the process of being converted into a John Varvatos clothing boutique.

Two years ago CBGB closed down for good in October 2006 and in February 2007 I stopped by and shot some photos of the ghost of CBGB & OMFUG. Sadly CBGB founder Hilly Kristal passed away in August 2007.

MTV News has more on the transition of CBGB.

Here's a photo of the exterior now (towards the left)

and the interior. it is very different from the San Francisco store (which is worth
visiting to see all the rock photos)

I'm sure there are more, but those were the ones I could find quickly.

Also, Joe Holmes has an exhibit at Wall Space in Seattle through Nov 6th

it includes 16 of his photos of CBGBs

what a complete shame that it was gutted. those walls belong in the R&R Hall of Fame, just as they are (or were).

I remember seeing the Ramones there and puking on the bathroom floor. Ah, memories.
