A little closer to home in the SF Bay Area, I worked for a large insurance corp. HQ in Marin county that had massive layoffs during the dot-bomb era. 1 out of 3 buildings was almost completely empty of people, but massive amounts of office/cube/supplies remained and there seemed to be endless work of demo and “organization” that happened very slowly over time. I had my sister meet me for lunch one day and I snuck her into the the building to take pictures, because it seemed important to capture:
