Disney’s Oz The Great and Powerful is the forthcoming film by director Sam Raimi that is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the beloved classic film from 1939. Actor James Franco stars in this fantasy film that tells the backstory of Oscar Diggs, a “small-time circus magician with few ethics” who “transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz.” Danny Elfman is creating the score for the film which opens in theaters on March 8, 2013.
Oz The Great And Powerful takes us back to a time pre-Dorothy, before the yellow brick road and before the munchkins. Back to the time when the great and powerful wizard of Oz first arrived in the fantastic land of Oz.
