Everyone this is the universal made car it says so in the heading. They had a copy made to display at the theme park in orlando. Sony pictures still owns the two original cars the had ecto 1 (ghostbusters 1) restored for the new video game press tour and anniversary tour up to that point they sat in the sony back lot for years i saw them in person. The only other sony produced car i know of was built for a press tour for the original release and it was that black one from the first movie and i read that after the tour it was sold and still exists but that could be BS since they turned around and had to make another car for the second movie (they didnt upgrade the original its a seperate car) i figure that they would just use that black one but who knows. None of the ghostbusters actors purchased the cars. I can only think of one actor that has a replica or real car that he drove in his movie/show and that is John Schneider from the dukes of hazard.

I doubt that Dan Aykroyd the writer producer of the first two movies would let "The 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance limo that was transformed by Universal Studios into the Ecto-1 Ghost busters car is now being auctioned off on eBay. " I thought he bought it from the movie company.

If I won the lottery like 100+ million dollars I would be the first collector to collect cars like this, of course along with the vehicle from that show Knight Rider, the vehicle from that movie Road Warrior, the time machine vehicle from Back To The Future, just to name a few. lol

Great collection it would be, but it's only a dream of course, but I know the first thing I and many other people would do if they had this car, drive the mean streets of New York City, while wearing ghostbusters uniform, and telling people your here to take care of there ghost problems!

There used to be a 59 Pink & White Ambulance that would roll around Oakland back in the 70s. It was a Ambulance company in the Dimond...
59 is one of my favorite years for Cizzak.
The Hearse in Harold & Maude is a 59
It resides in Palo Alto.
Whadda beauty though..

When I worked on the Sony lot they had an Ecto-1 also (Sony/Columbia is the current US distributor) - I used to sit in my boss's office and stare at it. It looked the same as the one pictured, but it's hard to imagine a studio would sell something like this on ebay. On the other hand there's a whole building forum devoted to building your own: http://www.theecto1.com/forum/index.php

When I was a kid I saw what I assumed to be the "original" parked, a few times, near the corner of Vantage and Valleyheart in North Hollywood. It was pretty beat up and filthy, and the license plate still had stuck to it, amazingly, whatever it was they used to simulate marshmallow goo. But who knows how many of these vehicle they needed? Most movies use at least a few of the same car, right?

Actually, I seriously doubt this is the "original" car used in the movie. This was owned by Universal Studios theme park. I've seen the park "actors" drive it around. This is probably just a replica made for the park. I'm sure the real one is owned by a collector somewhere.
