Launched today, Offbeatr is described as a place to “find, support and create interesting adult projects”. In other words, it’s a crowdsourced fundraising site, like Kickstarter or IndieGoGo, but catered to adult-only creative projects like movies, websites, products and more. Ben Tao and Eric Lai of Los Angeles-based amateur porn marketplace site Extra Lunch Money cofounded Offbeatr as a way to raise capital for adult-themed projects, which is difficult by traditional means. While similar to other crowdfunding sites, one interesting difference is that there is a public voting period which determines if the proposed project will be accepted to publicly ask for funds.
