New Google Maps App Released For Android, iPhone and iPad

Google has released a new Google Maps app for Android and iPhone/iPad with new features and native tablet support. The new Google Maps app allows users to search for nearby places of interest with cards labeled “eat, drink, sleep, shop, and play” that display favorite locations of other users, and includes a new 5-star ranking system for Zagat reviews. The updated app also allows users to see more detailed information about accidents in their travel route, and Google will suggest an alternate, faster path if one is available. Google has removed support for offline maps in this version of Google Maps, but users can type “OK Maps” into the search box to save their current field of view locally. The updated Google Maps apps are currently available to download from Google Play and the iTunes App Store.
