“Murmuration,” by British filmmaking duo Liberty Smith and Sophie Windsor Clive (Islands and Rivers) is a short film documenting their astonishing encounter with a massive flock of starlings on the River Shannon in Ireland. The flock of starlings (also known as a “murmuration”) formed complex, ever changing shapes over the river as the women watched and filmed.
