Marina Abramovic Institute, A Performance and Education Center for Long Durational Work

The Marina Abramovic Institute is a new performance and education center that will present and preserve long durational work—music, film, performance art, and other art forms that exceeds six hours in duration. The institute was founded by Marina Abramovic, a performance artist who has created a number of long durational works over the years (including this long durational joke). The institute is now raising funds on Kickstarter to help finance construction of its headquarters in Hudson, New York.

Marina Abramovic Institute is dedicated to the presentation and preservation of long durational work, including that of performance art, dance, theater, film, music, opera, and other forms that may develop in the future. MAI will foster collaboration between art, science, technology, and spirituality, bringing these fields into conversation with long durational work. MAI will provide an educational space to host workshops, lectures, residencies, and research.
