King of Fling

Maker Faire 2007 is hosting a King of Fling Catapult Contest and they have just put out a call for participants. To get involved, download the manual, build your catapult and register for the contest. Here’s additional information on building your own catapult or trebuchet.

Calling For Catapult Geeks!

The King of Fling Catapult Contest will be launched at this year’s Maker Faire. Organized by Bill Gurstelle, author of Backyard Ballistics, The King of Fling contest features two different classes, both involving water balloons. One is a target shoot where you gain points for hitting targets in a field. The other is a face-off against other contestants, where the object is to hit each other.

Nice graphic for the event, but the catapult pictured is not going to be very effective. Guess the artist isn’t into ballistics.
