Maker Faire is a weekend-long family-friendly festival presented by Maker Media that showcases “invention, creativity and resourcefulness” in the “areas of science and technology, engineering, food, and arts and crafts.” The Maker Faire Bay Area 2013 happens May 18 and 19 at the San Mateo County Event Center in San Mateo, California. Tickets are now on sale and a call for makers has been issued.
Part science fair, part county fair, and part something entirely new, Maker Faire is an all-ages gathering of tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, hobbyists, engineers, science clubs, authors, artists, students, and commercial exhibitors. All of these “makers” come to Maker Faire to show what they have made and to share what they have learned.
