Lost Horizon Night Market Creator Raising Funds to Send New York & San Francisco Artists to Events Across the U.S.

San Francisco artist Mark Krawczuk, the creator of the Lost Horizon Night Market, an ongoing event that features box trucks that contain unique interactive exhibitions, is looking to expand the project outward. Krawczuk and his partner Kasey Smith, collectively known as Everyhere Logistics, are currently raising money through Kickstarter to fund a 12-team event in which artists from New York and San Francisco attend local Lost Horizon Night Markets in different cities across the U.S. during August 2015.

Our goal is to take the theories of interaction, display, and community underpinning this event and push them further by creating a national network to connect and support these Night Markets – helping new cities to form chapters, promoting more give-and-take between existing chapters, and elevating this platform from an event to a creative movement. …Exhibiting art inside box trucks is inexpensive compared to many art forms – however, doing this for five weekends in a row, across seven cities, with twelve trucks adds up fast. We need to build the sets, props, and costumes that make up our projects. …By funding the twelve “critical mass” trucks, you’re funding an experiment in mobile art infrastructure designed to start a conversation on what an arts community is and where it’s located. Illustrating that the middle of the country isn’t flyover states, rather America is full of “drive-to” communities with bright, beautiful nodes of creativity.
