well, I think that this was a good idea, my teacher read about it, and now we are doing that as our project, we are learning about global warning and such topics. She saw Nate plan in a Boston newspaper. I think this is a great way to alert people that just the little things can influence everyone. We are planning to take the plan into action in our independent school k-12, as a school activilty to let everyone even the kindergardeners know that our world is in danger. We hope to get this out to our community, local cities so they can be aware of the little things that the schools or the whole community can do as a whole. Keep influencing others with great ideas! =]

You had a few supporters here in Los Angeles who kept their lights out in support of the program. However, it all seemed for naught since the Staples Center had some show that required no less than 10 skylighters (large moving spotlights) and the whole city block was bathed in bright light... so much for energy conservation.

A "side benefit" may be that San Franciscans see a whole lot more of the majestic night sky than they're used to. Overuse of poorly designed outdoor lighting, much of which directs light into the air where it isn't needed, has greatly diminised our ability to see the heavens and appreciate their beauty.
