The New York Times has reported that Brooklyn artist Brian Donnelly (aka KAWS) has designed Companion, a hot air balloon float for the 86th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade which happens on November 22, 2012. KAWS is the latest artist to join the Blue Sky Gallery series of balloons for the parade. You may remember that in 2011, Tim Burton created a Blue Sky Gallery parade piece, a B. Boy hot air balloon float.

KAWS is quoted as saying, “Companion is a subject of mine that has been exhibited the world over, from Atlanta to Hong Kong, manifesting in sculptures that range from six inches to 16 feet…I’m very proud that the largest Companion to date will debut, soaring in the New York City skyline.”
