I ran into Jason DeFillippo last week and he gave me a copy of latest issue of JPG Magazine which was literally hot off of the presses. This is the first issue to be printed using offset printers and it looks really great. In this age of blogs and online media, it’s great to still be able to get your hands on an actual independently published magazine, especially one with beautiful photos.

The theme of Issue 7 is “Shoot Your Self”, ie. photographers taking self-portraits.

What do photographers see when we shoot ourselves? In our Self-Portraiture theme, you’ll find 26 photographers’ takes on themselves, plus an interview with Noah Kalina on his eternal self-portraiture project, 10 tips for better mirror shots from Heather Champ of The Mirror Project, and a conversation with Michelle Howley on Self Portrait Day.

Starting with this issue, JPG Magazine is now available via subscription. JPG Magazing co-founder Heather Powazek Champ let us know that they are offering Laughing Squid readers $5 off the subscription price until December 1st. Their gift box subscriptions also include JPG Magazine stickers and a pocket tripod.
