Joe Mangrum

Site-specific artist Joe Mangrum is having an amazing solo installation at Urbis Artium Gallery in San Francisco. The opening is this Thursday, November 3rd from 5:30 to 8:00pm and the show runs through November 25th. Here’s some of Joe’s previous installations.

Many of Mangrum’s recurring themes explore our relationship to modern life juxtaposed with our organic natures and desires for freedom. Joe examines the indomitable power of creation in relation to the grid of imposed structures of cities and hegemonies of power constructs. He often employs the use of iconographic and spiritual forms such as the mandala and the pyramid in surprising configurations.
