Internet Week New York

Internet Week New York, a week long festival celebrating New York’s internet industry, takes place June 3-10. Here’s the full schedule and info.

Laughing Squid will be headed out to NYC for that week to join in the festivities and we are working with several local companies to co-host a special event on Saturday, June 7th. Stay tuned for more details.

Several other San Francisco Bay Area companies are also hosting Internet Week New York events, including:

- Digg and Revision3 are hosting a Live Diggnation & Meetup on June 4th in Brooklyn

- Make Magazine is organizing “An Evening at Maker Faire” on June 5th

- Mashable will be hosting an Internet Week Exhibit Hall party on June 6th

- Federated Media is organizing a two day Conversational Marketing Summit June 9th and 10th.

I’m also going to try to check out the Web2NewYork Startup Mixer on June 3rd, Thrillist’s Information Superparty on June 4th and The Channel Frederator Awards on June 4th. While in town I’m planning on visiting some of our friends companies like Blip.tv and Rocketboom, as well as making it over to Brooklyn to check out the wonderful new hacker collective space NYC Resistor.

Ironically, one of the events I will not be attending is the Webby Awards, which is part of Internet Week New York. Although Laughing Squid was a nominated this year for the Webby Awards, we are not eligible to purchase tickets for the awards ceremony. Only winners and special guests are invited to attend the event.

UPDATE: As it turns out, for a variety of reasons Laughing Squid is not able to make it out to Internet Week New York, but we may be back out in the Fall of 2008 and if so, will host our own Drinkup then.

Wow!

I did not even know that NYC had an Internet Week. It may be too late for me, but I will look into this and try to register and attend.

Sounds like it could be really cool: recreational and informative. There is so much to learn for a caught-in-1998 web-backwoods-er like myself.

Not bad!

Thnx for heads up.

Paul
