Instagram Announces Instagram Direct for Privately Sharing Photos and Videos With Individuals and Groups

Today Instagram announced Instagram Direct, a new way to share photos and videos privately with an individual or group of people. Users will find a new Inbox icon in the top right corner of their feed, and can click it to browse photos that have been shared with them. To privately share a photo or video with others, users can choose “Direct,” located next to “Followers” at the top of the share screen. Simply enter the names of the recipients, write a caption, and hit send. The new direct messaging feature is available in the updated Instagram 5.0 app, which can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store or Google Play.
