Improv Everywhere Creates Separate Sidewalk Lanes For Tourists and New Yorkers In NYC

For latest Improv Everywhere mission, “The Tourist Lane”, a chalk line was added to a 5th Avenue sidewalk in New York City encouraging the notoriously slow tourists to walk on one side and the fast walking local New Yorkers to walk on the other side.

The installation caused quite a bit of discussion and there was much speculation as to who was behind the prank. Even New York Mayor Bloomberg thought it was “cute”.

Improv Everywhere founder Charlie Todd debuted the video at the Mashable Media Summit during Internet Week New York, revealing that they were behind the prank.

Speaking of Charlie, he invited me along on to help document the mission. Here are my photos of “The Tourist Lane”.
