Hand-Cranked Kinetic Sculpture Simulates a Droplet Splashing into Water

“Water Experiment No. 33” is a hand-cranked kinetic sculpture that simulates a droplet splashing into water. The effect is achieved through a series of cams that move concentric rings up and down, creating the droplet movement (you can see it in action in this 2013 video). The sculpture was hand-built out of wood by designer Dean O’Callaghan.
