Hand-Cranked Kinetic Sculpture Simulates a Droplet Splashing into Water

“Water Experiment No. 33″ is a hand-cranked kinetic sculpture that simulates a droplet splashing into water. The effect is achieved through a series of cams that move concentric rings up and down, creating the droplet movement (you can see it in action in this 2013 video). The sculpture was hand built out of wood by designer Dean O’Callaghan.
