yeah, retract that “anyone” bit about giving blood. LGBT people are disallowed from giving blood. it’s discriminatory and shitty.

Thanks for posting this. My sister Deb received 23 blood transfusions the first time she had cancer. She is overcoming it again and has received many more. When I organized the Austin Blood Drive Tweetup, I pledged my support to everyone donating because blood donors saved my sister’s life. I am thrilled San Francisco is doing that and just want to know that I am behind you 100%!

I’ve done this a few times before. Always a great excuse to get some free food. Just make sure you have a lot of water and some sugary foods to snack on before and after. Every time I donate blood, I nearly pass out after it’s all done.
