I've been running The Squid List long before Upcoming was around and Craig Newmark has been running Craigslist longer than The Squid List. Based on your logic, we should all be still using Craigslist for events. Of course you're leaving out things like Facebook and the dozens of other services with event listings. My suggestion, use the services that work best for you. People have been saying this kind of thing forever. I've been running The Squid List long before Upcoming was around and Craig Newmark has been running Craigslist longer than The Squid List.
