Five African Red River Hog Piglets Born at Zoo Miami

African Red Hogs With Mother

Five African Red River Hog piglets were born to a first-time mother pig at Zoo Miami on February 28, 2014. The litter consists of three males and two females and these absolutely adorable little piglets are the first of their species born at the zoo.

We are happy to announce the births of 5 African red river hog piglets!!! This is a first birth for this species at Zoo Miami. We’ve attached several images that Ron Magill took this morning of the piglets with their first-time mom and as you can see, they are doing very well!!! They will remain off-exhibit for several days until the staff feels that they have bonded well with their mother and it is safe for them to be introduced to the rest of the group.
