Diesel Sweeties creator R. Stevens partnered with Philadelphia-based LympheDivas to design a stylish line of compression sleeves and gauntlets for people with cancer. Breast cancer survivor Lori Dorn explains how the sleeves help cancer patients, “Lymphedema is a condition that can affect anyone who has had a disruption in their lymphatic system. The use of a compression garment has shown to be useful in lessening the symptoms of lymphedema.” Xeni Jardin of Boing Boing talks about how she helped the collaboration between R. Stevens and LympheDIVAs come about. A portion of each sale of the sleeves benefits the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

“Oh my god! That’s so BIG!”

It’s not a double rainbow that’s got Paul “Yosemite Bear” Vasquez (“Double Rainbow guy”) excited this time, it’s a forest fire close to his home which is located near Yosemite National Park. He says he’s in no danger by the fire but he certainly is wowed by it.

This fire started yesterday Fathers Day June 16, 2013 around noon. I noticed it immediately and started filming. This footage was shot today Monday June 17, 2013 3 PM. I was on the phone with a CNN reporter when the flames started shooting up and this video starts. I was ordered to evacuate last night but refused the order because I have been planning for this for decades. My 2,500 gallon water tank went online two days before this fire. My well puts out a good water hose stream and my water tank puts out 2 streams and my hot tub another. I have 4 potential water hose lines, if only I had somebody here to help me man them. All the people who live here ran away like chickens. Ha. I fear nothing, I see it all as exciting, interesting and amazing!

In the latest video by the Slow Mo Guys, Gav causes incredible slow motion soda mayhem by shooting a line of four Dr. Pepper bottles with a crossbow. The soda explosions were captured at 2,500 frames per second by a Phantom Flex camera.

In his latest video, New York City filmmaker Casey Neistat compares the “pain in the ass factor” of three commuting methods: taxi, his bicycle, and the new bike sharing service, Citi Bike. According to Neistat, Citi Bike turns out to be the “least pain in the ass.” Citi Bike marketing team take note.

The dogs have been dyed and carefully sheared to depict cartoon characters, wild animals, and even mythical creatures in a very unique art form. Last June diver Dave Leander discovered a message in a bottle nearly a century old in the waters off Harsens Island near Detroit. The message read “Having a good time at Tashmoo,” a reference to an amusement park that was a popular attraction on the island in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The message was signed by two Detroit girls, Selina Pramstaller and Tillie Esper, and was dated June 30, 1915. Historians are now trying to track down the descendants of the girls.

Bioshock creator Ken Levine has signed on to write the screenplay for Logan’s Run, the highly-anticipated remake of the 1976 science fiction film, according to a report by Deadline. The first film was based on the 1967 novel of the same name by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson about a dystopian society in which all people are executed at the age of 21 to control the human population. The main character works as a Sandman — one who tracks down citizens who try to escape their executions — before going on the run himself.

“Four Calories” is a very David Lynch-esque short spec ad set in a seedy motel room and is one you may find hard to “shake.” New York-based Corbin directed it to push the boundaries of Tic Tac’s Shake it Up! campaign (100% unofficiallly) and it may just spoil your appetite for orange Tic Tacs forever. We know we won’t see them the same way again after seeing one being sucked out of the belly of a big hairy man. The director told Biertijd that “The Tic Tac tag line ‘Shake It Up’ speaks volumes to this piece while still leaving it open to the viewers interpretation. For me, it works on many levels, but everyone will have a different experience watching it and take away something that others may not have. That’s what I find most interesting and engaging about it. I’m definitely an advocate of pushing the envelope and would love to work with brands that are willing to do so. There’s a lot going on here, but everything needs to have its place, And it does.”

LEGO has approved the Mars Curiosity Rover set created by LEGO CUUSOO user Perijove, a mechanical engineer who worked on the actual Curiosity Rover at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The final product is still in development and no price or release date have been set yet. LEGO also provided updates on two other sets that were up for review, a Star Wars Sandcrawler and a Thinking With Portals set based on the Portal video game. The Sandcrawler was denied approval because of LEGO’s ongoing relationship with Lucasfilm on the LEGO Star Wars sets, and the Thinking With Portals set is still pending approval.
