Ericofon aka Cobra Phone, An Innovative Telephone Design by Ericsson

Designed by Sweden’s Ericsson Telephone Company in the late 1940s, the Ericofon or the Cobra Phone,  was originally designed for hospital use due to its ease of use, according to mega-collector’s Richard Rose’s Ericofon website. Minnesota-based Rose has a collection of 90 vintage Ericofon telephones including a special edition gold-plated one. He also collects telephone advertisements and has a huge inventory of vintage telephones for sale. This generally plastic, all-in-one stand up phone is highly collectible and holds a place in the Architecture and Design section of New York City’s Museum of Modern Art.
