The DUMBO Arts Festival 2012 is a three-day celebration of visual arts, music, literature and performance that takes place September 28, 29, and 30, 2012 at the waterfront in Brooklyn, New York. The event is free and highlights “Brooklyn’s commitment to and presence in the arts community” and will present “the best in local, national, and international art…”
A free, sprawling feast for the senses unlike any other in the city, the Festival takes over the entire neighborhood for three days, transforming its streets, parks, bridges, buildings, loading docks, galleries, and studios into canvasses, stages, exhibition spaces. More than 225,000 thrill-seekers can expect to experience a bonanza of brilliant local, national, and international art. Set amid the backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline in one of the city’s most culturally-rich and tech-friendly hubs, the festival offers something for everyone — from unexpected installations in stores and lobbies to huge, multi-story projections, interactive social experiments, participatory performances, and eye candy of all sizes…
The official Festival hours are Friday 6pm to 9pm, Saturday 12pm to 8pm, Sunday 12pm to 6pmand sundown to midnight all three nights for all outdoor projections.
Art revelers can enjoy: outdoor and indoor visual art installations and exhibitions, digital art and large scale projections, visiting artists in their studios or making murals on the street, musicians, dancers, poets, performance and circus artists throughout the neighborhood, on street corners, and in the park.
