Dueling Billboards, Responding to the God Billboards

by Scott Beale on February 6, 2008 · 5 comments

“Dueling Billboards” is a video by comedian Mario DiGiorgio where he takes on those ubiquitous god billboards, proposing some sarcastic billboards in response.

Mario’s new book “A Cynic’s Guide to a Rich and Full Life” was recently published by Last Gasp.

Got here from Friendfeed.

It would be highly ironic if DiGiorgo truly found a sign that stated “My way is the highway,” since…well, let’s just say it would be truly ironic and leave it at that. :)

So in essence, you’re praising Mario for being just as intolerant as the people/entities he maligns. Nicely done.

responding to comment by Dave C….

this is the one comment i keep seeing, calling me intolerant. and i don’t know how much clearer i could’ve been: I am not tolerant of intolerance…that’s a bad thing?

why can’t people get this?

sheesh.

to the folks who don’t approve: would you rather i’d have kept my opinions to myself? what a brilliant concept. maybe i’ll address that. oh wait…

join the KITTY army…….hugs and hickies, mario

Sorry to be so late in commenting, but I only just found this video. I would just like to encourage you not to judge a righteous God by the imperfect men that believe in him. Yes, there are hypocritical Christians (and unfortunately, often the most vocal ones), but we are all human after all. I believe if you looked at the man who was God here on earth (yes, the J word), your arguments about a God who is neglectful and incompassionate would not hold up.

As for recognition and tolerance of other beliefs – those billboards were not forcing anything on you – you could choose to ignore them. I’m sorry you’ve been hurt by others. Being a believer in the Word of God though, I cannot “keep my beliefs to myself” because that goes against the foundations of our teachings to share God’s love with others. I recognize your disbelief, please recognize my belief.
