You should know there's something vastly better and simpler than IRV - Range Voting.

I just wanted to chime in for a moment and say that I was wrongly quoted as saying that I don't believe in voting rights. That's not what I said. Or what I meant. I say, clearly, that I'm not a voting advocate. And I've said this a thousand times. It's a complex equation, but the Libertarian slant is one of an intellectual exorcise. It's not meant to be an actual way to run an actual government. It's a luxury that we indulge. It's coffee talk. The real world doesn't run like that. Flow like that. Libertarian ideals are interesting. Fascinating. I'm convinced that they are correct thinking. But when it comes to action, I don't know that they are a master key to solving real world problems today. I'm not a voting advocate. I don't think that voting is a solution for everything. I think, as do most Libertarians, that we should solve as many problems as we can without the help of government. To the end that maybe there is need of very few laws. Or politicians. This idealist thinking lead me down the path to state the I don't advocate voting, but I'm certainly not agaisnt it. I just don't see it as the end all solution. That's what that means. And if your interested in other Libertarian ideas, visit www.lp.org and see if you can't find something there to burn your toast.

And to those of you who underestimate me: don't. I'm silly, sure. But if you think I can't walk the talk you may be quite suprised when I slice you into little chunks and serve you on a platter with a side of fries. My candidacy for Mayor is relevant, astute and interesting. I will bring color, debate, candor and whimsey to the elections process. But I will also push my points. Some of which are amazing ideas (that are not mine) whose time has come.

My platform is Arts and Innovations. My stategy using IRV (instant runoff voting) is unconventional (I'm running for second place.) My arguments are solid. My fundraising is working. I'm a viaable candidate.

I thank you for your time and appreciate your support. Scott's one of my oldest friends here in SF and without his help I wouldn't have done this. So thanks to you too, Scott. I paid my fees today, and will be on the ballot come Nov 6th.

Lets fuck 'em up.

um...hey here's an idea...10-15 burning man people could voluntarily give up buying those $200-400 tickets and give the money to chicken lip to "run" for mayor.

or maybe if each burning man person gave a dollar, ol' chicken wing could have 50,000 bucks.

oh but that would mean people would have to give up partying for a real life cause. hmm.

chicken boy, keep rattling the cup maybe the corporate sponsors of burning man will give you money for your "campaign."

oh and i love how this guy is against voting rights. yeah that makes sense. what a joke.

The use of "Army Street" is still legal. Go ahead, check out Google Maps. The road is labeled both "Army" and "Cesar Chavez". Not convinced? Go to USPS.com and get the ZIP code for 3359 Army in San Francisco, CA. It's a valid address in the government's eyes.

If we are old enough to vote that really should mean we are old enough to not act like children in laughing squid comments.

You may not like Chicken John and thats fine but whats the point in making yourself look like an ass for all of us to see?

I'm sorry, how is it possible to respond to this posting without being abusive and breaking the rules?

I've tried, and I just can't seem to do it.

This chicken guy is an (abusive) right-wing (abusive) and you, sir, are an (abusive) lackey for even promoting him on your blog.

Hi all,

Not sure why that pingback link above is an error, but you can read some of our analysis ( and more coming) on the Chicken vs. Josh debate at:
www.xlterrestrials.org/plog

here's an exceprt:

Initially when we heard that Chicken and Josh were going to take on the system in this year's mayoral primetime election sitcom episode we thought: this is going to suck, this has no teeth, this has no radical attack, this is only going to bounce right off the Election Spectacle like a rubber vomit prop without ever aligning with and voicing the very real political crises from homelessness to gentrification to cronyism to labor issues to healthcare to the filthy rich getting filthier..., etc etc.

BUT after experiencing the debate the other night, just hearing such authentic voices (and sharp humor) coming from extremely opposite worlds than professional politicians will, when up against a big business-bidding puppet, make for extraordinary comedy at the very least ...and perhaps at best a glorious surrealist train wreck.

This might seem like a real stretch, but perhaps similar to what La Otra Campagna (The Other Campaign) is accomplishing in Mexico, they have the potential to catalyze and cultivate the hunger for, and actual activity towards, something detached from the sham democracy and self-serving govt. system, something the people themselves construct as alternative functioning communities, which in any number of pragmatic forms just ignores the adversary and proceeds with better ideas.

First, it wouldn't be in Chicken's 'voice' if it didn't have at least one typo.

Two, it was 1:00am when we actually started making the ad, it's a miracle there aren't more mistakes.

NIce place to grind your ax, Dan. Way to reduce the art issue down to 2 unreasonable people.

My truck is actually carbon positive as it takes CO2 out of the atmosphere. Yup. Dig it, tread lightly you woulnd't be the first person I've made a fool out of. I'd be happy to demonstrate it for you, please visit www.caferacercrew.com to see when the next show is. Likely, September.
