Will Smith was recently a guest on the BBC talk show The Graham Norton Show where he raps The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song along with keyboard accompaniment by Gary Barlow.

In 2011, The Monty Python Museum posted this video clip of John Cleese playing Satan in a circa 1966 sketch on the satirical television show, The Frost Report.

Open Culture describes a bit of the show’s history:

John Cleese plays a cash-strapped Prince of Darkness in this classic sketch from The Frost Report, the show that launched Cleese as a television star in Britain. He was 26 years old at the time. The program was hosted by David Frost, who is perhaps best known for his 1977 interviews of Richard Nixon. There were four other future Monty Python comedians on the writing staff of The Frost Report–Graham Chapman, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and Eric Idle–but only Cleese was a cast member. The show was broadcast in 1966 and 1967, with each weekly episode centered around a particular theme, like love, leisure, class and authority. The ‘Souls in Torment Appeal’ is from a March 24, 1966 program about sin. It’s a funny sketch.

It’s no secret that I am a big fan of Fluff and last year I befriended someone who is as equally into Fluff as I am, the charming Susan Olsen (“Cindy Brady” of The Brady Bunch). We bonded over our love of Fluff and last fall, we both traveled to the What the Fluff? Festival (photos) in Somerville, Massachusetts where Susan, an artist, sold prints of her Fluff Art. She is also a strong advocate for animal welfare and works with Precious Paws, a nonprofit animal rescue organization in Encino, Calfornia.

If you are in the Los Angeles (Burbank) area tonight, Friday May 11, 2012, there is a fundraising event called A Night With Susan Olsen & Her Art at Theresa’s Family Restaurant. Susan (who has a delightfully quirky sense of humor) will be selling her artwork and handmade Candy Kitten Crap (made with Fluff, of course) to benefit Precious Paws.

Nancy & Lee in Las Vegas is an hour-long Swedish documentary TV special that follows Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood both onstage and behind-the-scenes during their 1972 concerts at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas. This often candid film was directed by Torbjörn Axelman and was produced by Sinatra’s late husband, Hugh Lambert. It also features scenes with Nancy’s mother, Nancy Barbato. As a longtime fan of both Sinatra and Hazlewood, I really appreciated this look at their sometimes less-than-glamourous time on a casino stage (and their jazzy live version of the song Jackson). It is available to purchase on DVD from The Video Beat.

According to the Nancy Sinatra blog, Sinatra performed in Las Vegas from 1969 to 1982. Billboard reviewed the Riviera Hotel show in February 1972:

“Gowned in a backless, silver pants outfit and banked in a magnificent stage set with white light she knows how to sell hard, man type songs to the cafe crowd. Opening with ‘Let Yourself Go,’ she goes immediatley into ‘Candy Man,’ ‘Ain’t No Sunshine When He’s Gone,’ and a country arrangement of ‘Help Me Make It Through the Night’ which had heavy use of the steel guitar…[Lee Hazlewood's] duets with Miss Sinatra are solid and strong. The RCA recording team did their hits plus the new ‘Arkansas Coal.’”

Torbjörn Axelman also directed the 1970 TV special starring Hazlewood titled Cowboy in Sweden. Here’s a clip from that special that features Hazlewood’s song, The Night Before:

In the latest game of All Star Celebrity Bowling on the Nerdist Channel, Team Nerdist played against Team Walking Dead at the bowling alley at Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel’s The Spare Room.

Team Walking Dead includes Steven Yeun, Scott Wilson, Lauren Cohan, and creator Robert Kirkman, taking on Team Nerdist: Chris Hardwick, Indoor Kids Emily Gordon and Kumail Nanjiani, and Dana Gould at the Hollywood Roosevelt’s The Spare Room. No zombies among them… as far as we know, that is.

This clip is previously unreleased footage from Chappelle’s Show of the Beastie Boys performing “The New Style”, a song off their debut album Licensed to Ill. In the clip, show’s co-creator and host Dave Chappelle performs with them briefly. It was filmed on a New York City boat for the 3rd season of Chappelle’s Show (which was scheduled to air in Fall 2004 but never did). On May 6, 2012, co-creator of Chappelle’s Show, Neil Brennan, shared the clip online after the recent death of Adam Yauch.

Posing as comedian Aziz Ansari, Ansari’s look-alike started being interviewed on the TV show Anderson and briefly fooled the show’s host Anderson Cooper. Ansari has been hiring the look-alike man to help promote his new comedy special, Dangerously Delicious, and decided to also prank Cooper. He later brought out Cooper’s doppelganger and said, “I know you’re a busy guy, you’re holding down like three jobs, so I thought you could use a little help…”

Polaroid cameras sponsored “The Tonight Show” with Steve Allen and later Jack Paar for many years in the 1950′s and 60′s. In that era show hosts commonly endorsed products during the show rather that just cutting to commercials. This clip from a 1960 episode shows Jack Paar trying to do his in-show plug for the Polaroid Land Camera while comedian Jerry Lewis generally runs amuck and literally drives Paar up the wall.

Nearly 40 years later, here’s a Polaroid I-Zone camera ad circa 1999 which features a young Aaron Paul (Jesse on Breaking Bad) as a happy sticky-picture-snapping teenager–he was about 20 at the time. Click the image to see the video.

Of course Polaroid ain’t what it used to be:

On October 11, 2001, Polaroid Corporation filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Almost all the company’s assets (including the “Polaroid” name itself) were sold to a subsidiary of Bank One. They went on to form a new company, which also operates under the name “Polaroid Corporation”. It stopped making Polaroid cameras in 2007 and stopped selling Polaroid film after 2009, to the consternation of many users.

However Polaroid film is at least available again thanks to the Impossible Project. A vintage Polaroid commercial montage is below including both these ads plus appearances by Jack Paar, Steve Allen, Barry Manilow, James Garner and more.

After The Brady Bunch ended in 1974, actor Robert Reed (Mike Brady) showed off his acting chops and played a doctor who wants to go through a sex change operation in a touching episode of the TV series Medical Center. There is both pre-op and post-op footage of the episode available on YouTube from Conelrad. The two-part episode aired in 1975 and was called the The Fourth Sex. It was clearly ahead of its time and earned Reed an Emmy nomination.
