In Ferris Bueller, TV network AkooTV has pieced together a fun side-by-side video comparison of Matthew’s Day Off, the 2012 Superbowl Honda CR-V commercial starring actor Matthew Broderick, and the circa 1986 film that inspired it, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Business Insider compiled an entire gallery of the side-by-side screenshots from AkooTV’s comparison piece.

Television host Jimmy Kimmel of Jimmy Kimmel Live! recently issued another viewer challenge. This time he asked his viewers to unplug their television at a crucial moment during the Super Bowl game, film what happens and upload the results to YouTube. In Hey Jimmy Kimmel I Unplugged the TV During the Game, we get to see the best (and most irate) results of folks unexpectedly being pranked during the Super Bowl.

His challenges began last year when he first asked parents to tell their kids they ate all of their Halloween candy. Then he had a two part holiday challenge where he asked parents to give their kids an early but terrible present [1, 2].

Super Bowl watchers in North Platte, Nebraska got the first look at the latest Old Milwaukee beer commercial starring actor and comedian Will Ferrell. The ad, which only aired in Nebraska, shows Ferrell slowly walking through amber waves of grain until the end where he stops and opens up a can of Old Milwaukee. Our recent post, Will Ferrell Creates Unscripted Old Milwaukee Beer Ads For Free in Various Midwest Cities, described his curious involvement with the brand and rounded up all the local commercials he made that we could find.

UCB Comedy created a series of Super Bowl Dos and Don’ts PSAs reminding people to “don’t be a dick” on game day.

On January 27, 145 water skiers in Tasmania set a new world record for the most people water skiing simultaneously behind one boat (video via Sunrise Channel 7). The skiers had to remain upright for a nautical mile in order to qualify. They were towed by a 114 foot, 3000 HP catamaran. The attempt was organized by the Horsehead Water Ski Club.

You may remember the tiny Darth Vader using “The Force” last year in a Volkswagen Super Bowl commercial, and now its follow-up ad has been released. It’s called The Dog Strikes Back and features the dog from the 2011 commercial getting into shape to chase down a VW Beetle. Be sure to watch the whole thing for the Star Wars cantina scene. Volkswagen also combined dogs and Star Wars in the previously released Super Bowl ad called The Bark Side. In addition, they have created an Intergalatic Invite, which will create a custom “Big Game Party” Star Wars-themed title crawl.

On top of working with Sesame Street on mixing primary colors, OK Go is starring in a Super Bowl ad (which doubles as the music video for song, Needing/Getting) for the 2012 Chevy Sonic. The teaser trailer has been released and so far we know that it involves one car (a Chevy Sonic, of course), 288 guitars stuck to a fence, 55 stranded pianos, 1157 homemade instruments and a singer that is a “professionally trained driver”. The full video will premiere on February 5, 2012 during the Super Bowl.

Remember that Ferris Bueller’s Day Off Super Bowl teaser ad we posted about last week? Well here’s the full version of the commercial which celebrates the launch of the 2012 Honda CR-V. The ad features Matthew Broderick reprising his classic role of Ferris Bueller and it was directed by Todd Philips (The Hangover & The Hangover Part II).

Actor Matthew Broderick is back as his character Ferris Bueller (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) in Coming Soon, a ten-second Super Bowl teaser ad posted by chuckachucka2012. We look forward to see what “Ferris” will be advertising on February 5, 2012, aka Super Bowl Sunday.

We hate to be such a tease, but on a day like today, we just have to. Stick it out until the Super Bowl, or take a “day off” on Monday and catch the big reveal.

Realtor and racing enthusiast Peter Tryce rolled his open-top Cobra race car at Willow Springs Raceway in California while traveling 130 MPH. The harrowing crash and subsequent cartwheels were captured by his GoPro camera. Amazingly, Tryce and his camera both came out intact.

YouTuber keef70 shot the video on a GoPro camera and created the video effects on his iMac. The video is set to the song The Whales by The Mermen, from their 1989 album Krill Slippin’.

Matt Stutzman was born without arms, but that didn’t stop him from becoming a competitive archer (video via BP Team USA). Stutzman holds the record for the longest archery shot (230 yards), is a member of the ParaUSA Archery Team, and hopes to compete in the 2012 Paralympics in London.

Jean-Yves Blondeau (aka Rollerman) created a 31 wheel roller suit which he races down mountain roads and other steep descents (video by Danny Strasser). The wearer can use the suit to skate in a variety of positions, from standing to lying flat. Blondeau has been developing the suit since 1994.

Last year on Instructables, Minnesota-based Evan2010 created a Giant Snow Ramp made entirely of snow coming off of his roof and posted howto instructions so others could make one too. This year, he is taking it up a notch by posting howto instructions to make a wooden-framed Ski Ramp (aka Giant Snow Ramp V.2).

This is the Giant Snow Ramp version 2. Since last year where I live we got record snowfalls so we had tons of snow to work with and was able to build up a ramp purely out of snow… So this year I’m not expecting to have that much snow so to continue to ski off my roof I decided that I would build most of the ramp out of wood and build a frame. Although this version of the Giant Snow Ramp isn’t free it does take away lots of the labor involved with piling up two tons of snow.

Don’t be dumb and use common sense your going to be skiing off a roof.
