Eric Drath directed Here Now, a superb documentary film that follows baseball living legend Pete Rose in his life today. The former Cincinnati Reds player and manager was banned from the game in 1989 and put on the Major League Baseball permanently ineligible list for his questionable gambling practices. Today, he lives a quiet life in Las Vegas where he works 20 days a month selling autographs and collectibles. We learn in the film that his hope is to get a second chance and be reinstated to baseball so that he can manage a major league team.

In this astonishing commercial for the Canadian Paralympic Committee, an amputee runner sprints on a track, passing vignettes depicting the runner’s traumatic injury in a car accident and subsequent rehabilitation. Directed by Mark Zibert for ad agency BBDO Toronto, the commercial was filmed in one continuous shot without CGI trickery (making-of video). The runner is Canadian paralympian Alister McQueen.

This inspiring video has been making the rounds recently and is of a hesitant fourth grade girl overcoming her fears and talking herself down her first ski jump.

A family friend under the name of UK2NZ2NC2UT uploaded the video and had this to say about it:

…it’s more about the emotions and facing your fears and overcoming them, than the jump itself…The jump is not small, the launch is a good 6 feet high and it crosses a Cat Track before the landing slope starts, at a guess a good 8 feet horizontal, and that’s only to the start of the landing ramp, no idea what distance she got on this, her first K40 jump.
