I have just learned of the existence of the Planters Nutmobile, a touring peanut-shaped vehicle from Kraft foods that runs on 5% biodiesel. The nutted-up 2011 Isuzu NPR truck is loaded with unique features, such as the reclaimed wood interior flooring from a circa 1840 Pennsylvania barn, a recycled glass windshield and exterior roof solar panels. The best part: A real-life Mr. Peanut, the brand’s monocled anthropomorphic mascot, travels with promotional vehicle. In 2011, the Nutmobile and Mr. Peanut traveled the United States on the Naturally Remarkable tour.

As part of our sustainability journey, Planters is embarking on the 2011 “Naturally Remarkable” tour, encouraging Americans to grow stronger communities through service and conservation. The tour inspires people to become planters by volunteering with The Corps Network, the nation’s service and conservation corps. Fast food chain Jack in the Box is now serving the Bacon Shake, a limited edition bacon-flavored milkshake made with “real vanilla ice cream, bacon flavored syrup, whipped topping and a maraschino cherry”. It’s part of a bigger campaign called Marry Bacon which asks, “If you like bacon so much, why don’t you marry it?”. The campaign includes a bacon-centric Tumblr feed, a purchasable bacon tuxedo t-shirt and more.

The Primeburger restaurant in Midtown Manhattan is the subject of Prime, a short documentary film from the This Must Be the Place series by Lost & Found Films. This quintessential burger joint has been open since 1938 and still keeps its 1960s-era old-school coffee shop look alive. The film interviews the restaurant’s loyal and dedicated employees, including one gentleman who has been there for about 60 years. There’s a lot to love about this charming restaurant and its documentary. We have previously posted another film from the series called Exploring The Idea of Home.

1 Fine Cookie has concocted Pizza in a Jar, a recipe where pizza ingredients are layered in a jar and baked to hot fork-able perfection.

Behold, pizza in a jar. People are obsessed with things in jars. I can’t help but give the people what they want.

The cool thing about this, is you can make ahead and bake whenever. These would be cute for a party food table, or to do with the family. Kids would pull hair out of their heads to make/eat these things. Just grab a fork and go to town. No sharing required, which in my experience, is a kid’s top priority.

Seattle-based retailer Archie McPhee brings us the Switchblade Spork, an ingenious way for “hopped-up punks with uncontrollable appetites” to handily carry a spork, the spoon and fork hybrid.

Survival in the epicurean jungle was a matter of brawn and culinary skill, in which mastery of the Switchblade Spork was king. Gangs of sous-chefs and line cooks ruled the streets and no food was safe from the steely glint of their sporks. This metal and plastic utensil snaps open with the push of a button to 11″ long and also feature a safety lock to prevent unexpected deployment.

There is sad news today for New York City bagel lovers. H&H Bagels, the legendary bagel shop in New York City, has been shut down by a city marshal. The shop, located at 46th Street, was the last location of H&H Bagels in the city and still shipped bagels worldwide until its closure. In 2011, they were evicted from their main location in the Upper West Side. Take a look at the post, H&H Bagels, Like No Other Bagel in the World, where Scott extols the joy of a warm bagel from H&H Bagels.

UPDATE: The Wall Street Journal has reported that H&H Bagels owner, Helmer Toro, is determined to keep the 46th Street shop open despite the recent closure.

Black Market Liquor Bar in Studio City, California is now dishing up deep-fried Fluffernutter sandwiches. Maybe next time I serve up Fluffernutters at the Archie McPhee store, I’ll deep fry them first.

Black Market’s version arrives at the table as a golden, panko-crusted brick. It’s slightly larger than a Sticky pad, and if that seems too small, it overcompensates in richness what it lacks in size. Slice into the sweet brioche, and the sandwich oozes with warm marshwallow fluff. You may not be able to see it, blanketed as the sandwich is with a layer of gooey Fluffernutter, but it’s loaded with peanut butter and bananas. It’s a childhood treat, all dolled up for the decadent adult. Eat your heart out, Elvis Presley.

In 2006, Mamma Mia! Pizza Beer was created by homebrewers Tom and Athena Seefurth who wanted to create a beer that would pair with a wide variety of foods, including pizza. Using a surplus of oregano, basil, tomato and garlic, they came up with this “debris-free” pizza-flavored beer. The Seefurth Family now sells their pizza spice-filled beer online through Malloy’s Finest Wine & Spirit shop.

The Margarita pizza is put into the mash & steeped like a tea bag. A whole wheat crust made with water, flour & yeast is topped with tomato, oregano, basil & garlic. The essence of the pizza spices is washed off with hot water and filtered into a brewpot, where it is boiled for a long, long time. During the process, we add hops & spices in a cheesecloth type bag & filter the cooled liquid into a fermentation vessel. (big glass 6 gallon water jug). After a week or two, the beer is good to go. Keg it or bottle it.

As the camera traveled around the restaurant it captured the wonderful reactions of the customers.
