Agreed that standard def video recording is soooo 2007.

With 2 more stops and a swivel screen, this might be the G unit I finally buy...

I purchased the G10 about 60 days ago. I was an S5IS Owner (18x zoom, swiveling LCD) and gave up those two kick ass features for a better image processor, RAW support and higher ISO.

The G11 brings back the swivel lens which really excites me and if low-light is better, that's a huge sell for me since most photo walks are at night or events that take place in bars / clubs.

The final thing that is a downer is the price ($499 eek!) and the fact that video is still 640x480. That's what the G7, G9 & G10 have. 4 generations of STandard Def when every other pro-camera is moving to 720P at least.

I would have thought that Cannon's most expensive point & shoot would get some form of High-Def even if it was crippled at 20 frames per second.

I might put mine on eBay with a reserve of $450 since it's so new and if someone buys it I'll upgrade to the G11. If not, I'm happy with the G10.

I'm more excited about the new S20. It's quite a bit more compact but it's still got a fast F2.0 lens, lots of manual controls, shoots raw, etc. It seems to be something like a G11 in an IXUS body.

It'll be interesting to see how the new sensor works in real world situations. A bit disappointed with the setback in resolution (14.7 in the G10 vs. 10 in the G11), but if it helps the camera deliver better images in low light, that's good.

Would love to see the G series give me the full 240 dpi resolution that Canon's DSLRs give me. Right now the G10 gives me 180 dpi, which is better than the 72 dpi of most digital cameras, but it could be better.
