California-Based Hacker Scouts Program For Maker Kids Is Growing

Back in September 2012, we wrote about a cool open lab program for maker kids in Oakland, California called Hacker Scouts. Their program has been growing and they have started a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to grow it even further.

Samantha Cook, the founder and director of Hacker Scouts, writes:

Hacker Scouts is a national nonprofit dedicated to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) Education and skill building. We are a grassroots, volunteer organization that support groups all over the US in making as well as publishing open source programs and activities online. Now, we need help. Headquartered in Oakland, we are now unable to function in the space we have partnered with and need to move. Our Kickstarter will helps us get the equipment and materials we need to not only serve the demand of our local community, but prototype and model all the programs and activities we continue to build for our global community!
