Thanks for all the info! What a great resource--I'm at home with the new baby and my husband is at the burn without me this year--our anniversary! Better just one of us goes, than none! You probably have no answer for this, but I was planning on watching the burn on Current, but when I found the great Webcam, I decided to watch that, instead. Last night was great! But it has been in the same spot for about 2 hours, motionless over a bunch of RV's--only a random few people even--do you think it will be back to it's roaming self by 9:00?

[...] Friday Vid Picks: Burning Man As droves of people descend upon the Black Rock Desert in Nevada for the 2007 Burning Man Project, life in San Francisco is a little quieter, a little lonelier, a little more, dare I say, normal. Sigh. I’m still hoping that NewTeeVee can make room in its budget for a Burning Man field reporter, but…maybe next year. In the meantime, enjoy some vicarious radical self-expression from the most wired Burning Man to date. More info. can be found at Laughing Squid. [...]

I love the quote about the good time of 40,000 people's good time being taken away by the burning of the man. We used to fantasize about burning the man before the sanctioned burn. Good for Paul. Too bad he's a homicidal maniac.

> Several factors have prevented me from going in recent years. I still think it is a great event and encourage people to attend who have never been. Someday I might be able to return myself.

Wow, Scott, you're like Moses, looking over the promised land and unable to enter. :-) Thanks for the coverage. Mike

I’m actually in the same boat as you. 2002 was the last year for a lot of people, I believe that was Egg Chair Steve’s last year among others. 2002 was a great Burn and I think that temple on Sunday night even upstaged the burning of The Man himself. Normally the Burn has felt like Superbowl Sunday. All this hype leading up to it and just 4 hours sitting around doing nothing and then it’s over, but the 2002 Burn was amazing.

It’s fun though to live vicariously through the internet though as Burning Man week unfolds. It’s not the same thing, but it’s also a fun experience. The Reno Gazette journal usually has good online coverage as does sfgate.com. It’s really neat to see people still really inspired and excited for that event.

Thanks for this, O Squid of Laughter. It is almost like being there, but not. A most valued gift, given the cost and desert-ness of it all.
