Are you going “rethink you relationships as a consumer” with every product that has a commercial that YOU find “offensive and inappropriate?” You will be really narrowing your product use if you do.

I never thought the commercial was offensive or inappropriate. I just thought it was just up right STUPID.

I thought it was a clever way to incorperate spongebob and burger king. Look, Spongebob shows his naked butt in the show ALL THE TIME and even spent an entire episode ripping his pants and mooning people with it.

Millions of parents let their kids watch that, but have a problem with a live action square butt commercial… very hypocritical.

Basically, grow a sense of humor and stop complaining about it.

Really, why are you even letting your kids watch TV? I agree to some extent that the commercial shouldn’t be shown during children’s programming, but I would never in a million years just set a child down in front of the TV anyway!

I found the “Whopper Virgins” commercial far worse – it portrayed natives of certain countries as people whose lives were so sad because they had no Burger King, then “introduced” them to the amazing Whopper without any thought of repercussions (yes, I know the whole thing was fake, it’s still sick).

Seriously – quit the TV and quit the fast food.

If this commercial does anything for girls “in particular” it sends the message that cute butts come in all shapes and sizes.

I don’t see the butts or the booty in this commercial as sexual at all. They’re unexpected and adorable. I don’t think we need to sequester the children.

But then I also like the BK commercial where the cowboys are corralling the schnauzer-sized cows. I watch it every time and always laugh.

Go BK! Keep up the good work in surrealistic advertising!

I am doing my senior project on exactly just this kind of stuff “booty is booty” are you shitting me anyone who thinks that this is funny and wont effect children girls in particular is insane and needs to quit being ignorant. If you look back at everything ten years ago maybe u would really realize how much things have changed how many more kids are having kids and how young the media effects everything and something needs to be done to stop it , it’s everywhere QUIT BEING BLIND TO THE TRUTH

Shelby, i could not agree more. I only wish that a burger king commercial with “square butts” was the BIG problem we all seem to be facing. It’s a “no-brainer” why the American people are looked at AS A WHOLE by other people as idiots, and “sissy”. What ever happened to humor? That’s all the BK shoot was aiming for, and once again, some band of “tree hugging women rights group” has deemed BK degrading, disgusting pigs looking to poison the minds of our children. I think this has all been blown out of proportion, and been taken all to seriously.I truly mean not to offend anyone, but only to say there are worse things happening than a “funny commercial.” I can’t help but wonder if it were men or even a mix of men and women in the commercial shaking their “square butts,”if this would even be a problem at all. But like they say, opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.

you people need to get a life, those that are saying this commercial is inappropriate. Jan get a life, are you an english major or what? stop correcting people’s grammar. Just because you have nothing better to add to what these people are saying, does not mean you need to make people feel idiotic. Its a common thing to make a “typo” on the computer. So honestly, get a life! Children will always find a way to grow up faster. Its in human nature to want to explore things yourself. As for wanting your children not to watch a commercial, its a COMMERCIAL! It’s not a big deal for crying out loud. You sit here and let your children watch disney movies which in fact have much more adult “sexual” humor in it and you complain about a commercial. Stop obsessing about something minor and worry about more important things in life like what your children live through and see happen right in front of their eyes. THANK YOU!

LOL this is pretty funny. I think the BK king is about as creepy as one can get. As far as grouching about Sponge Bob it is obvious the people who are doing the complaining about SB have never seen a sponge Bob cartoon. I am 53 and I must admit I enjoy that cartoon, however often in the cartoon sponge bobs bottom bounces around all over the place and sometime play the drums. LOL It is a cartoon and I cannot see anywhere in any of the ones I have seen where there is anything that can be construed as offensive, immoral, sexist, homophobic or an environmental disaster. I honestly believe mush more thought went in to this cartoon than the ones I watched when I was young. I see it as quite an improvement. Now I know there are people out there who poopoo anything just for something to do in their horrible lives, but for the most part I think the creators of this cartoon spend a lot of time making sure the cartoon projects a healthy attitude toward honorable behavior. I would let my grandkids watch with out hesitation. As far as the BK ad the king is as weird as anything I have seen on TV in twenty years and the bouncing square butts is just funny. The kind of funny when someone farts funny. You don’t stop and create a BLOG every time someone farts to analyze if the fart noise is going to create mental problems in the child. You just giggle like a little kid and MOVE ON! Well that is unless some parent puts some weird spin on it and tells their kid anyone who watches the satanic ad will go to hell and their eyes will pop out of their heads and Jesus will not like them any longer. I doubt it will be remembered as one of the significant times in their lives unless some screwed up parent makes it one! For heavens sake, give your kid some credit for having a brain. Well, unless you have already screwed up your kids brain, that is. LOL

I got a kick out of this commercial the first time I saw it, and I still think it’s hilarious. It’s pretty clever, actually. However, I never understood how Burger King thought of children’s food and a cartoon, and then thought “Baby Got Back”. But “Joe” has a point. The commercial is geared towards adults who are buying the Burger King *for* the kids. And I agree with everyone who posted about the adult humor in Sponge Bob… at age 27 I rarely watch it, but it’s one of my 49-year-old father’s favorite shows!

First, why are we voicing our concerns on this post and not to the creators of the commercial? Secondly, as previously posted by others no one should be taking their children to fast food period. And lastly, our society unfortunately has LET corporate giants lead us into ridiculous offensive material to bide us into their businesses and only when it becomes so outrageous does it get our attention. im going to have to agree… its really not that big of a deal, yes its creepy its sexual to adults but to a child its just one big Spongebob joke they dont see the sexual content in it. and on top of that HAVE YOU SEEN THE CARTOONS ON TV! Nick and Cartoon Network are pretty much non-stop nothing but creepy well hidden sexual jokes. (which saddens me) Plus on top of that Hanna Montana Jonus Bros, Disney posterchild to rape you childs mind into buying anything and mold their minds into slaves to Disney. If you dont want you kids watching things like this commercial you need to just sit down and watch what you kid watches and it may just open your eyes to whats really directed towards todays youth.

Additionally, if you want to totally protect you children from things like this DO STUFF WITH THEM! play outside, run around, play games. I remember growing up as a kid and getting off the school bus and just running around outside till dark. so its not the TVs fault your child’s mind gets muffed bc thats kinda the point of the TV.

This commericail is horrible. I have noticed recently that they have taken sir-mix-a-lot out of the end of the commercial. Good thing, because that was the worst part…As I watched the commercial for the first time, I was disgusted and couldn’t believe my eyes. But the comment, “booty is booty,” I really couldn’t believe my ears!!!!!!!!!!!! This is one reason, with all do respect, in the south, especially the african american population, have no respect for themselves, and therefore no one can have respect for them. And espcially the little 7 year old and older kid, who learns these things from other kids who watched the commercial, even if they didn’t see it…Who wants their kid walking about saying, “Booty is Booty!” What are you teaching your people, by this rude behavior!!! Before watching this commercial, I did not like eating at Burger King and as a matter a fact, the last time I ate there, I went through the drive thru and I remember the experience being really ghetto and low maintence, but after watching this commercial, I will not ever go there again, no matter what!!!! Absolutley, a disgusting place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mac, your statement is a bit frightening. If you knew anything about sexual assault, you’d know that it is not a “sexual” crime…..it is a crime of anger and power. When you said, “put a piece of steak in front of a dog, you know the rest,” it sounds like you are condoning this horrendous crime against women and excusing the men who commit it. I hope this isn’t the message you were trying to get across, but you should know that that is the message some of us are receiving. I’m not sure what you meant about “women treat men like dogs.” I can only assume that you have had a bad experience with a woman, so you have decided to put us all in one group. That’s very sad and very wrong and sounds like a “personal” problem to me. And how can you make the statement that this creepy commercial is about square butts…..not women?? It shows the “Burger King” gawking at young girls as they dance around with sqare butts and singing about how he loves square butts on young girls. It just gives me a creepy feeling and portrays the “Burger King” as a pervert and pedafile. However, whether you feel it is a “sick” commercial or not, isn’t the point. If even one person feels this commercial is out of line or that it exploits women, or that it is inappropriate for children, then they should take it off the air. PERIOD! Until then, I too, will not be frequenting Burger King again until they pull this creepy commercial. And Mac………seek help. You obviously have an extremely distorted view of what is “funny” and what is “appropriate” when it comes to your feelings about women and young girls and how this kind of sick advertising only serves to denegrate both women and children.

I find this commercial entertaining and do not see what all this uproar is about. Children under 8 shouldn’t understand the sexual undertones and if they do than it’s the parents’ responsibly to censor their own child and not others. One Spongebob commercial will not turn my younger sister into a whore.

At first I was thinking what is BK doing marketing to little kids. Then, I thought about it. They are marketing to me! Not kids. It’s only on late at night. The commercial is saying free kids meal with purchase of adult’s meal. I’m a 34-year old dude with 3 kids who loved Sir Mix-Alot when I was in Junior High & High school.

In that light, it’s a great and original marketing idea. Funny, too. Now, if this commercial ever shows up in daylight hours, especially during cartoons or other shows my kids watch, I’ll be totally outraged. But, since it’s aimed at my adult demographic, I think it’s cool.

The fact that anyone would find this commercial offensive is absurd. I agree with what Whitney said even if she didn’t use correct grammar. If you have ever actually seen the show it is a kids cartoon laced with very mature adult content.

The people in the commercial are trying to imitate spongebob by having square butts. Seriously is the world becoming so politically correct that people are unable to find humor in advertisement?

As far as the commercial making “objects” of woman you are reading way more into the commercial then you should be. It’s supposed to be a light hearted commercial about a sponge. If you take that stance then you should also not let your child watch the cartoon either because there are more things to take offense to in the cartoon itself then there are in the commercial if you actually listen to the content of the show.

If as a parent you take offense to the commercial then perhaps you need to find more constructive things for your child to be doing besides being glued to a television.

This commercial is absurdly innappropriate for any age. It exploits women and is using a popular kids cartoon to do it. This is more than crossing the line for burger king and sponge bob. They had to get permission to use sponge bob this way. We are trying to teach our girls that they are not sex objects and media is going in the opposite direction. It is not funny, not cute, and the worst way to get attention. I will never buy from burger king and I am completely boycotting sponge bob! I am so glad to see others are offended by this rediculous ploy to sell kids meals. I do not understand why it is still running all day everyday. Those of you idiots who think it is funny and not a problem are the exact example of what is so wrong with this horrible commercial. Sorry if mispelling, in a hurry and keyboard sucks!

I find this commerical completely inappropriate for young children. Burger King has officially sexualized a kids cartoon! What are they going for? Shock value?? I have 4 kids under 10 and every time I see this commercial I cringe. Wow, I can actually promise that I will not give my money to BK while this commercial is airing. This is ridiculous. It’s bad enough Disney, Cartoon Network and ABC Family all have shows that have inappropriate story line and now you can’t even watch a friggin fast food commercial geared towards children.
