Brooklyn Woman Receives Birthday Card That Her Now Deceased Parents Sent To Her 45 Years Ago

A Brooklyn woman named Susan Heifetz recently received a birthday card that was postmarked June 26, 1969. The card was from Susan’s parents, both of who died ten years ago and became even more meaningful after she found out what was on the back of the envelope from the current tenant.

I said ‘tell me what else is on the envelope,’ at which point she said to me ‘on the back is a lipstick mark,’ and at that point I started to cry. This was my mother’s thing at the time. To always seal it with a kiss.

Susan also received two other letters from that same time period, one from her brother and another from a boyfriend who was serving in Vietnam. The post office claims not to know why this happened or where the letters came from.
