British Reporter Gushes With Unabated Glee Upon Witnessing a Giant Blue Whale Coming Up For Air

While filming in Moss Landing, California for the third and final episode of the BBC One series Big Blue Live, host Steve Backshall abruptly interrupted an interview with local whale expert Dorris Welch to gush with unabated glee at the the sight of a giant blue whale coming up for air.

I’m so so sorry. I don’t believe what I just heard. This is just incredible – I’ve heard word that we have on our helicopter a blue whale. It is to the south of us, absolutely clearly, I can see it now. The largest animal ever known to have lived on our planet, larger than any of the dinosaurs. A creature we hunted so 99% of its numbers have disappeared. It’s back, it’s here, it’s in the bay right now, live. Um, this is one of the most extraordinary things I’ve ever seen.
