Bill Murray’s Spontaneous Bartending at SXSW 2010

I had missed this at the time, but one of the bartenders at San Francisco’s fine rum bar Smuggler’s Cove just told me a funny story about Bill Murray impulsively getting behind the bar at crowded Austin drinking establishment Shangri-La during this year’s South by Southwest festival. Apparently no matter what drink a person requested, Murray would hand them a tequila shot. And sure enough, the internet has the proof!

I randomly caught Bill Murray pouring shots of tequila and whiskey for a bunch of excited hipsters (like us) at Shangri’la in Austin. He then went and chilled with GZA in the corner while we all whipped out our iphones to tweet about it.

Actor, nerd, poet, producer, writer mikl-em made his name short so you wouldn't have to. In addition to his blog you can find his writing in "Hi Fructose" magazine and witness him almost life-sized in various plays at The Dark Room Theater in SF's Mission district.

He tends to write about theater, humor, San Francisco culture and history, and stuff that's just plain weird. He thanks Scott for sharing the keys to the Laughing Squid virtual HQ and promises to uphold whatever it is that the mirthful cephalopod would prefer to be uplifted.
