Big Air Package, A Giant Envelope of Air in a Former Gas Storage Tank by Christo and Jeanne-Claude

Big Air Package by Christo and Jeanne-Claude

“Big Air Package” by Christo and Jeanne-Claude is a 295 foot tall fabric envelope of air that nearly fills the interior of the Gasometer Oberhausen, a decommissioned gas storage tank in Germany. With a volume of more than 6 million cubic feet, the installation is the largest ever inflated envelope of air without a supporting skeleton. Visitors to the installation can walk the perimeter of the envelope and can enter the envelope via airlocks for a most impressive view. “Big Air Package” is on display until December 30, 2013.
