Bernal Heights Hill Soapbox Derby Shut Down By Police

There's a Reason It's Called "Illegal"

Yesterday’s Bernal Heights Hill Soapbox Derby 2008 was shut down by the San Francisco Police Department and the organizers ended up moving to another hill in San Francisco. Telstar Logistics has the full report with photos.

According to Telstar Logistics the organizers of the event have decided that in the future they will no longer be giving advance notice or information about the derby, making it a true underground event, something that is pretty rare these days.

Bernal Hill is the perfect place… maybe they should make it an official event, 'cause it's so great… oh ya, everybody'd have to sign waivers and all that crap, but the world a good soapbox derby (and big wheel race, and…)

I wonder if the SFPD decided to step in after the death earlier this year at one of the San Fernando Valley Illegal Soap Box Federation race?

I wonder if Red Bull called the cops so they could be the only soap box derby sponsor game in town.
