‘Beautiful By Night’, A Fascinating Short Documentary About Three Older Drag Performers in San Francisco

“Beautiful By Night” is an understated yet fascinating short documentary about three older drag entertainers who perform at Aunt Charlie’s Lounge in San Francisco. Created by filmmaker James Hosking, the documentary follows performers Olivia Hart, Collette LeGrande, and Donna Personna as they reflect on their lives and perform at the lounge’s weekly drag show. According to Hosking, the film grew out of a photo series of Aunt Charlie’s Lounge that he shot for Out Magazine. The photo series can be viewed on Hosking’s website.
