SFGate Blog is reporting that alternative San Francisco newspaper, SF Weekly, has been purchased by San Francisco Newspaper Co., the publisher of rival alt-paper San Francisco Bay Guardian and the free daily newspaper, The San Francisco Examiner. SF Weekly had been owned by Voice Media Group who also sold Seattle Weekly (press release). Multiple layoffs are expected. More of the story is available in an article by Eve Batey of SF Appeal.
