As part of the 2014 NYCxDesign Festival, Chilean artist Sebastian Errazuriz has built “The Giant Golden Piñata”, a huge golden calf piñata sculpture. The shimmering golden piñata is Errazuriz’s commentary on capitalism and greed—the latter will be demonstrated on May 20th when the public is invited to smash the piñata to pieces. Inside they’ll find 1,000 one-dollar bills. Errazuriz says he hopes people will be “rolling on the ground and fighting for dollars.” The piñata is now on display at Industry City in Brooklyn through May 20. NYCxDesign Festival runs May 16th to 19th.
