Artist Noah Scalin Creates an Oversized Anamorphic Skull Out of Discarded Newspapers

In his latest site-specific installation , artist Noah Scalin of the Skull-A-Day project and whose work we’ve previously posted, has created Dead Media 5, an oversized anamorphic skull made completely out of discarded newspapers from a plant that was shutting down in town. The installation is on display at Witchita State University in Kansas.

I was invited to speak at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas and as part of my visit I worked with students in the graphic design program to create a new large scale anamorphic installation in the lobby of the School of the Arts building. The timing was appropriate as it was just announced that the local newspaper would no longer be printing in town, but moving production to another city before eventually transitioning to just a digital format. This temporary piece will stay up for just a few days before it is disassembled and recycled.
